Lump/pain at back of tongue

by alynn1741, May 04, 2007 12:00AM
I've had a sore throat for about two weeks, sometimes it's worse than others so I'll think it's getting better but it hasn't. A few days ago I realized it really only hurts on the left side, and it's really not so much a sore throat (although my throat does hurt when I swallow) but a sore tongue.  My tongue hurts towards the back and also at the base but again on the left side. I looked at it today and there is a lump at the back of my tongue.  What is this?
