Lymph node from gingivitis?

Lymph node from gingivitis?

Hi, I hope someone can help me out. About a year and a half ago I had a lymph node swell up behind my ear overnight. It was about the size of a grape/olive and it was painless. It started to go down within the week, however it never disappeared completely. At the moment it is about the size of a pea.

A few months ago I went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned and the hygienist was extremely rough. The next day the lymph node behind my ear was slightly enlarged, firm and it hurt. I do have gingivitis, do you think the gingivitis or another dental related problem caused this node to swell up in the first place?

I would also like to mention that my cat who was a kitten at the time scratched me on my face on the same side as the node about 4-5 months before the node popped up.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before?
