Mouth Ulcers?

Hi,

I was trying to remove some food from my mouth with my finger and noticed a bump on the buccal surface.  Upon further examination, it was dark red and like a bump (at least 5mm diameter).  While picking at it, it came off easily and I had a taste of blood (not much).  The area where it was in now a circular mark with defined border.  It never hurt (i.e. bump, or when I removed it, or now).

Is this what is referred to as a mouth ulcer?  I thought ulcers were painful and whitish/grey with a red halo around them?  What could it be?

Finally, would oral ulceration seen in primary HIV manifest as one ulcer (along with other symptoms) or would there have to be multiple ulcers?

It seems to have started out like a blister (i.e. raised), but after picking at it, it is now more like an ulcer (i.e. about 5 mm diameter at the most) with a defined edge.  Does not hurt at all.  But just noticed a red pin point sized spot a half inch away from this today.  Hope this will not turn into the same thing?

Can you define the oral ulcer?
ulcers are v painful, can be present for either a week if they small, if they large than longer.
normally if its just one ulcer, its most likely to be trauma, chemical burn etc.
ulcers dont come off easily, they are a small break in the lining of the soft tissue.
what i would do is review the condition over a few days/weeks and see if it gets worse.
try an antibacterial m/w and not to smoke/drink alcohol/have something too spicy.
