Mouth sores-stress? PLEASE HELP!!!!

by blacksails89, Dec 12, 2005 12:00AM
Hi,

I have been getting mouth sores for the past 8 months.  At first I just had one on the roof of my mouth. You know those two hard bumps on the roof of your mouth right where the hard palate joins the soft palate?  One of those bumps is enlarged, white and sore. I had a biopsy done on it and it came back negative. My mouth is constantly very dry and sore.  It feels better when I eat something or chew gum because it gets the saliva flowing.
More recently, I've been getting sores after I drink alcohol. I first noticed this one morning when I felt pain on the front of my gums and felt a big hard bump there that was quite sore. This sore has since become more soft, as I can move it around with my finger but it hasn't gone away after a month. My neck has also gotten sore after drinking and I've gotten bumps on my neck that the doctor says could be swollen lymph nodes.
I suffer from anxiety and stress disorders and find myself getting sick when I'm under stress.  I was also taking a medication for this called lorazepam that has listed side effects such as the one's I've been experiencing. But I stopped taking that a month ago and am still experiencing these problems.  Doctors have been of no help to me.  I wonder if this is all stress related but worry that this could be something serious. I feel healthy otherwise. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! I'M REALLY SICK OF THIS AND JUST WANT TO FEEL BETTTER!!!

My suggestion is that you find an oral pathologist. They are specialists that deal with oral diseases and the manifestations that are associated with the oral cavity. You can locate these doctors in either a dental school or in a teaching hospital.
