My mouth is having a nuclear Meltdown

by Varient, Aug 01, 2007 12:00AM
Well at least it seems that way. Here are the multiple symptoms:

Lips - 2 small black spots have appeared on my bottom lip

Tongue - Thick white coating, with red/black swollen bumps near the top

Gums around the teeth- Upper portion of my gums have turned a dark red and sting constantly, and are impossible to brush, oh, and this has also spread the last 3 days. At first it covered 4 teeth so I thought "Eh, I just burned my mouth on pizza again", now it covers nearly my entire top row.

Roof of my mouth - Major swelling of the bumps (dont know what they are called) near the teeth, some sticking out more than others. All of them burn constantly.

Throat - Very sore throat, and something on the right side that seems to really be sticking out.

Everything in my mouth burns except for my lips. Please help me, this just happened 3 days ago. I also had a 102 fever when this happened, now i'm starting to feel that the fever was brought on by these rapid changes.

Any help greatly appreciated.

It sounds like what ever you have systemically is effecting your mouth. You need to see both your MD and DDS.

I just got back from the doctor. diagnosed with Herpangina. Rare for a someone older than six. It's a viral infection of the mouth. A pretty bad case of it, they prescribed an antibiotic and a "magic mouthwash" that tastes pretty bad, i have to swig it around for a few minutes and then eventually drink it. I do this every 6 hours.

If you have symptoms like the ones listed above, then you might want to ask your doctor about herpangina. The real question I have is, sense Herpangina is a VIRAL infection, wont antibiotics do nothing for me?

Hi. oddly enough i just got dianosed with this as well. I am 23 years old. I have the exact same symptoms and have had a fever of 102+ for about 3 days. At first i did think that i burnt my mouth on pizza or something for a day or two. All of the sudden on Friday night I got extremely weak and tired and went to the doctor on saturday and sunday. Today is Monday and they finally discovered what it was. I was sure it was strep throat or mono. Hopefully i wont get sores on my hands and feet but my mouth is so swollen i can not even bite down. Also I was tld just to drink a lot of gatorade etc if i cant eat naything which is hard enough bc my throat is so sore. And...I'm out of work for a week. Unbelieveable
