Mysterious tongue bump/sore

I have a strange thing on my tongue...my doctor thought it's an ulcer but it's definitely not. I took a picture of it here:

That was taken a few days ago - it's the same size now, hurts just as much but feels smoother and the top is becoming whitish in parts, almost looks like pus but it doesnt wipe off. I'm female, 21 other symptoms are a severe cold with postnasal drip and fatigue...I'm just getting over a urinary tract infection so I'm already on antibiotics. I need advice on what this is, how to treat it and especially if anything can be put on it to speed healing - i've already been keeping my tongue out of my mouth most of the time to dry/heal/hurt less. Dear JessK, From the picture you sent it certainly looks like an ulceration.Any sore that does not heal in 10 to 14 days must be investigated by a professional,preferably by an oral surgeon.
