NTI appliance fractured my teeth?

My dentist recommended a NTI nite guard appliance for grinding my teeth while sleeping. He also said it would protect the new $3,500 bridge that is on my 3 front teeth.
I fractured 2 TMI appliances. I fractured the first bridge while wearing the appliance. My dentist said it must have been defective. The dental lab did make me another, but said the bridge was fractured by excessive force. Now, I fractured the 2 front teeth that hold the bridge in place right at the gum line! These devices are always getting loose also.
Are these NTI nite-guard appliances contraindicated for patients that have a bridge on their upper front teeth? My dentist said EMG's show that while wearing the NTI it's impossible to bite down with significant pressure. I told him I think I could bite his finger off with the appliance in place and was willing to test my theory. He declined.
Did this NTI thing destroy my teeth because I wasn't a good candidate for it?

Shall I see a TMJ specialist even though I have never had TMJ dysfunction to my knowledge? I've never had headaches upon waking, joint popping or snapping, or temporal soreness. My dentist prescribed this NTi appliance for grinding at night. With the nite-guard in place, I put so much pressure on that one little spot on my top, front teeth, while sleeping, I fractured them.

COMMUNITY LEADER
NTI is not new, in terms of clinical application or theory. Similar concept or device has been employed in dental community for decades. However, NTi does promote and heavily market in dental community very well. Anterior stopper or NTI does work for many tmj related conditions. However, therapeutic effect depends on who fabricate the device. Seeing a competent tmj specialist is advised.
