NUMBING TOP TEETH/DENTAL WORK

I've read lots on numbing problems w/lower jaw,but I've got the same trouble on the top! I'm in urgent need of a root canal of upper back tooth (took a week of PCN to rid infection) and worry about anesthesia. I'm at the point of paying for IV sedation .BUT-I am trying to get pregnant, don't test + yet (I'll see in 2 wks)- is all this safe??

In emergency situations you can have dental work with local anesthesia when pregnant, although it is better to have it done in your second trimester.  But in your case, if you've just taken antibiotics to deal with infection , better to get the treatment done than to wait.  You shouldn't have much trouble getting numb on the upper back tooth.
