No pain bumps at back of throat on tongue

I started getting a strange feeling on my tongue about 2 days ago - like a popcorn husk was stuck back there. It's not painful but very annoying. I can't see back there but have felt with my finger and it feels like there are some bumps. I have been on a modified fast for the past week, and am wondering if it could be an allergy to the food - or should I be worried?
