Nose still numb 7 months after jaw surgery

by mikets73, May 19, 2009 06:29AM
Hi, I had upper and lower jaw surgery to correct an under-bite and cross-bite seven months ago. I still have a bit of numbness on the left side of my bottom lip and chin area. I also have numbness in my right nostril, which hasn't improved much since the surgery. I mentioned this to my surgeon on my last visit and he said the numbness in the nostril wasn't a normal side-effect for this surgery, and it should subside. But is hasn't. Have you come across this before? Could it be a bruised or damaged nerve from the surgery?

Your condition is similar to sakisma's post of nerve damage, please review my comments on that post.
