Numbness & Tingling After Dental Implants

Numbness & Tingling After Dental Implants

I had a baby tooth pulled (no permanent tooth behind it) and 2 dental implants done 3 days ago.  Both implants were on the right side, one upper and one lower.  I've noticed some numbness in the right side of my lip, chin, and cheek, as well as some tingling on the tip of my tongue and taste bud changes.  Is this normal for the first few days following surgery?  I'm currently taking penicillin and peridex rinse...i've read that this may be due to the peridex.  I have a follow-up with my oral surgeon Wednesday...just paranoid that this may be permanent.  I have a few stitches around the bottom implant...could this just be due to needing time to heal?

Your symptoms are probably associated with inferior alveolar nerve injury. Going back to your surgeon as soon as possible for evaluation is advised.
