Numbness in chin

Numbness in chin

I went to my dentist a month ago to have a couple of fillings done and I still have numbness in my chin.  I called him a few days after my appointment to let him know and get some feedback.  He promised that this is a rare occurance but would go away eventually.  He also said that the needle could not reach the nerve so he did not believe it was nerve damage.  It has now been 1 month and my chin is still numb.
Can there be nerve damage and will this go away?

Thank you

It is certainly a possibility that the nerve was traumatized and more than likely the numbness will abate. This may take a considerable amount of time, be patient(excuse the pun).
