Old Abscess Tooth Shattered!

This just happened 10 minutes ago and I'm not sure what I should do! Pretty freaked out ATM (anxiety/panic disorder).

My tooth abscessed about a month ago and I've already finished my round of antibiotics so hopefully I'm in the clear with the actual infection.

Anyhow, I was eating a piece if crusted garlic bread when I had a feeling that something was stuck between my teeth. So as usual, I just poked at it with my tongue trying to dislodge whatever was in there. Suddenly I realized it was pretty sharp....not like a piece of bread. I went to the washroom and looked and saw that 1/2 my bad tooth (by bad I mean discolored and pretty much dead) was dangling off to the side.

I merely poked at it with my finger....trying to push it back into place, and it just fell off! There's no pain, no bleeding and really no sensitivity or anything out of the ordinary. Just a big red hole and I can see into my tooth pulp and dark redness where the tooth piece used to be.

My dentist appointment is in 3 days to get it removed but I'm thinking is there any danger waiting that long? Do I need to go to the ER or anything. I'm really at a loss as to what to do at the moment. Just really scared of all the "death by abscess" things I've read and heard over the last few months.

Someone with some knowledge on this situation PLEASE respond if you can!
