Oral Bone growth

I am concerned about abnormal oral bone growth surfacing through my gums. This is occuring in an area (left rear)where teeth have been removed because of a similar problem 2 years ago which caused severe infection. There is also a bone protusion next to one of my teeth that I had a root canal performed. What is happening here, what can be done, how serious is thius and what's it called?
