Oral Hairy Leukoplakia

I'm a 22 year old white male. I've had white spots on my tongue and cheek for at least 3 years now. I can't remember when exactly they started or what they looked like originally, but now there is a white colored  line of raised tissue inside both of my cheeks right around where my teeth meet. There is also a similar white line on the right, and somewhat on the left side of my tongue. I went to a doctor a few years ago, and he said it was just from the teeth rubbing against the tissue, my question is, does OHL appear in a linear pattern (most of the pictures i've seen are patch-like), and would OHL abruptly stop along a certain part tongue ( It's almost like perfect line from the whiter upper portion of the tongue to pink/ normal underside of the tongue). I'm awaiting HIV test results, and am very worried, this is the only HIV possible symptom I have, no weight loss/ swollen lymph nodes/ or anything else I've read.

P.S. - If I were exposed to HIV it would have been within the last 5 years, would OHL appear at that point of infection, as I understand it usually means late-stage infection. I've never had any sexual contact with another man, and smoked for about 6 years.
