Oral paresthesia/Wisdom teeth question?

Here is the background story: Got my wisdom teeth removed beginning of Jan; it's been a month. Surgery was the worst surgeon had done, according to him, it was supposed to take 30 minutes but took 2 hours, even had to take x-rays during because bottom teeth were really badly impacted; I was under local anesthesia.

So during the 2nd week, I realized I had this weird sensation on my chin and bottom teeth as well as bottom (my left) side of lip. I went to see OS and he said should be another week. So then I started having tingling sensations and the inner part of my lip felt like it was burning, also, when I tapped my bottom front tooth I would feel a tingle. But my condition did not heal so I went back. Then he told me it should be a couple more weeks for all feeling to come back. It's been a couple weeks and the only new thing is some very minimum itching on my chin but I can't really itch it.

I understand this feeling is normal but I'm tired of him saying "another week." Is he hiding something? Nerve damage? or does this really take this long to heal? I've had the tingling, burning sensation on my lips, etc, but that doesn't happen so much now on the 5th week of recovery. Is this just routine for the nerves? I get very paranoid with things like this.

That sound like my problem too. I've been waiting one year for my gums to stop feeling tight, numb, burn at time and swollen at times. What gets me angry is the oral surgeons don't admit that this is a permanent problem. Mine just look at me and said he didn't see anything in the xrays. Asked if my insurance would cover a biopsy for cancer. Being I paid him cash for the surgery. Now after reading others experience, I'm starting to understand that I've been waiting for something to heal that is not going to heal. Dentist appt. should be interesting. Can't wait to hear what he has to tell me, than they wonder why you never want to go to a doctor.
