Osteoporosis and pain in teeth, jaw

by Duchess47, Apr 15, 2006 12:00AM
I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and have noticed that recently I have a lot of pain in my teeth and jaw.  This has prompted me to wonder if osteoporosis affects the teeth in general as they are inbedded in bone?  And how so?

Are you on any meds for your recently diagnosed condition?

I cannot take the Boniva that has been prescribed for me as I also have Gastroparesis.  I only take Lipitor right now.  I was on Tapezole for 4 years because I also have
Graves Disease.

It is recommended to take calcium supp and to do low impact  exercises to min bone loss. Foamax comes in syrup which can help you with the gastro problems. However, it can create more facial bone issues. Talk to your docotor-good luck!
