Pain

Pain

Two weeks ago I had a post fitted and had a temporary crown put on. When I eat chips, for example, the tooth hurts. This tooth was fine before I had redone a root canal and had the gold post inserted; however, I experience pain whenever I bite on it. Does this mean that I have a serious problem on my hands? Is it possible to make the pain go away by having my current post removed and replaced with a new, remade, one?

Hoping to hear from you soon.
Thank you. -osha44

Post insertion probably has nothing to do with pain onset, unless the posted root is fractured. Tooth tends to be sensitive to occlusal load after canal obturation. Sensitivity may last a couple of days to weeks. Occlusal interference of temporary crown may contribute to biting pain. Going back to your dentist to have more occlusal adjustment is advised.
