Pain After Root Canal

Pain After Root Canal

I posted below about severe sensitivity that I am having after a root canal, and I have a separate question related to that. I am now seeing an endodontist, and there is one root that isn't really finished being cleaned out (there were complications with it), and I have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment. I am still in pain, ear hurts, etc....and I have noticed that I am running a persistant low grade fever. He took an x-ray yesterday and made no comment pertaining to infection. Is this something I should worry about? What sort of complications can occur? My tooth has been opened up and "messed with" three different times now, so I suppose infection is possible.

It is not unusual to have post op pain after RCT. I think the endodontist would have placed you on antibiotic therapy if  he thought you needed it. It is important that after the treatment the tooth is taken out of occlusion so that you don't bite on it. If you close your mouth without any food and you feel the tooth then the tooth has to be adjusted.
