Pain after a root canal

by listolub, Nov 20, 2008 03:36AM
14 days ago my dentist prescribed antibiotics due to an infection in an upper right moler.  I had a root canal treatment yesterday and the pain (not during the proceedure ) afterwards was excruciating !  I have been in pain all night and still this morning.  I can't bite down, my tooth is throbbing, my eye hurts, even my ear.  I have taken Advil but it doesn't help...
What is wrong ?  Is this normal ? and how long should I expect to be in agony ?

Post up discomfort after root canal instrumentation or obturation is common. The symptoms tend to subside within 72 hours. If your symptoms persist more than 3 days, addressing your problem to your endodontist is avised.
