Pain from 12 month ago Root canal treatment

by NickJar, Jan 23, 2008 07:02PM
I had root canal treatment on my lower left molar in February 2007. It has been fine since then but in recent days in has become painful and sore to tap the tooth. My gums feel very sore to both sides of the tooth. I have looked at the tooth and it doesn't seem to have any cavities around it or other cavities around other teeth. I did have an infection in the tooth before the root canal treatment, could this be coming back?
Due to a shortage of dentists in my local area and long waiting lists, is there anything I can buy over the counter to rub on the gums or any tablets I could take while I wait for an appointment.

Just get it pulled out. Like I am doing. Root canal does not always work. root canal is just to kill the tooth not the root. You get it pulled it is not there nomore and you dont have to worry about it and the nerve is killed also. Anyway it is a molar sure we need them to chew but who see's them
