Pain meds after gum surgery

I am having surgery for gum recession due to over-zealous brushing and teeth grinding.  I will have all my mouth done at once.  My dentist said he will give me a prescription for pain medication following the surgery.  I have a very low tolerance for pain meds - meaning, in most cases I become extremely nauseated and throw up.   I have tried (over the years) Percocet, Vicodin, Darvocet - all cause me to be ill.  What could I ask him for that will not make me ill?

Thank you for any advice you can give me.

You can try Codiene or a strong dose of ibuprofen.  It may not be enough for pain relief though but the side effects may be more manageable.
