Pain on top of mouth

Pain on top of mouth

Hi everyone,

I have a sharp pain on the gums on the top of my mouth... it's just past the ridge, almost at my front tooth. It hurts when I touch it, sometimes to eat and sometimes to drink. It bleeds slightly when I brush it. I've going through the 'freshman15' and have eaten a lot of **** lately (well, not a ton, but more than usual) and I've also started drinking a ton of cranberry juice lately, if that could be a contributing factor!

Thanks
Kevin

I would go see a dentist, sharp pain is usually a sign of something important going on that needs to be evaulated.

I got a good look at the area with a mirror yesterday and it appeared to just be an awkwardly located cold sore. I also avoided eating anything too acidic yesterday and most if not all of the pain is gone today. Do you guys think in light of the fact that it appears to be a cold sore and is already feeling better it would be safe to just treat it as such at home?

A lot of lesions do heal in 1-2 weeks.  If its healing and the pain and lesion go away, great.  If it returns, I would suggest getting it checked out.  Good luck.
