Pain with crowns

Pain with crowns

I had 4 crown put over the front teeth in my mouth 2 years ago.   I had a gap and after getting the crowns it seems that my tongue does not accept the crowns.  I constantly suck on the crowns thereby causeing the gums around the crowns to be sore and my tongue to be dry and sore.  What can be done about this problem.  I have went back to the dentist and she can't figure out the problem.  Incidentally the crowns feel tight.

What do you mean when you say your tongue does not accept the crowns?  Do they feel too far forward, too far back?

As for the tight feeling, that sounds like the crowns were not adjusted correctly between them before they were cemented.  Most labs make them a little tight so that the dentist can file them down just a little to get a perfect contact between them.  If the dentist did not do this, they will be too tight. She can use an interproximal strip to relieve some of this excess...but general dentists do not tend to carry ones strong enough to file procelain down unless they do invisiline.
