Pieces of tooth left behind after extraction

Pieces of tooth left behind after extraction

As my first question states, I had 4 extractions:1, 16, 19, and 30.  They were difficult to say the least.  After further investigation of my extraction areas, I found a large part of 1, 16, and 19 are still there.  I pulled the rest of 19 with pliers.  I noticed that he charged my insurance for the 4 extractions.  This is my first dental visit in 25 years and this is why.  Should I go to a different dentist to get a second opinion about what went on that day?  Thank you so much and hopefully you can put my two questions together.  J

Well, I would just guess that if they could've removed #19, they would have removed it.  If you could do it yourself, I don't see why a dentist wouldn't be able to remove it with actual professional equipment.  Perhaps it was a piece or fragment of your tooth/bone from the surgery.

I would say you should bring up any concerns with your dentist first before seeking a second opinion.  If your current dentist doesn't seem to come up with any satisfactory answers for you, then a second opinion is recommended.  If I were your dentist, I would like the opportunity to address my patient's concerns.

Oh, are you taking any medications?  I forgot to ask.  You may be getting some side effects from the pain medications.

No, I am not taking any pain medication.  As I have read on other sights, I am probably "coming down" from the whole ordeal.  Thank you so much for your time and attention. J
