I had 33 extractions done on Thursday (today is Saturday.)  Thirty two of them were severely decayed and badly infected.  It was a difficult extraction.  One tooth ripped my gums down to the bottom of my lip and the doctor had to drill a hole through the back of my jaw and into the root of the tooth to remove it. The bleeding for the best part of the last 3 days has been nonstop and heavy at times.  The worst part is that the dentist didn't fully numb any of the areas so I felt most of it.  Today I awoke to severe swelling and pain.  I can hardly open my mouth and I'm going on day 3 sustaining myself on popsicles and sherbet.  I'm always tired and have the occasional chill.   I also have noticed that my gums seem to have areas of necrosis and especially where the tooth ripped in the front it is a splotchy grayish purple.  What (if anything) can I do to reduce the swelling, the pain and does any of this indicate infection.  My post op is Monday but I cant bear this pain that long.

It sounds like you have a dry socket. do not use heat use ice. Call your Dentist they can pack it with dry socket paste, it very soothing. You can rinse with warm salt water but
gentle move your head from side to side, and let the water gently flow out of your mouth.
