My question is for anyone who has had a root canal..I need one maybe two root canals and I am extremely afraid of the dentist can someone explain the procedure and pain level for me so I can ease my mind a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys bit thanks
You can look up all the details on the internet, but basically it is a drilling procedure with a crown as the final outcome. An oral surgeon usually does the root canal, and your regularRegular insulin dentist would do the crown. Pain should not be an issue as you are injected at the tooth site to relieve the pain. It is not as bad as they are often made out to be. The worst thing might be the tubes in your mouth as it is held open for the process. It might help to inform your dentist about your feelings, so he or she can address them.
It really does sound a lot scarier than it is. I've had 4 root canals and I'm the biggest sissy out. But I'd much rather have had the root canals instead of the alternative which would have been losing the teethBroken or knocked out tooth Dental care - adult Dental x-rays Development of baby teeth Development of permanent teeth Plaque and tartar on teeth Teething Teething symptoms Toothaches altogether. Once you're totally numbed up you basically just have to lay back and keep your mouth open.....there should be no pain during the procedure providing you've had enough novocain. I got so bored during my last root canal that I almost fell asleep in the chair while the endodontist was doing it. Long story short, what happens is the canals in your tooth are cleaned properly and filled with a special substanceDrug abuse. It's usually a process that takes 1 or 2 visits.
you dentist can prescribe something for anxiousness (like valium) and i usually bring my ipod to block out all the noises. the only pain will be from injections but you will be numb for anything else.
