Please help - which of these bacteria is not covered by Augmentin?

I have been fighting a bone infection in my jaw for 6 months - it wasn't identified until this past month but I'd been very sick this whole time. This past month I finally found a good oral surgeon who removed the 2 teeth causing the problem, and cleaned out the bone underneath. He cultured the surgical sites for bacteria, and found:

- Streptococcus Viridans
- Bacteroides Gracilis
- Haemophilus Influenzae
- Hameophilus Parainfluenzae
- Neisseria species

Which of the bacteria above are not susceptible to Augmentin? I'm trying to figure out with my doctors what antibiotics to take to fight this infection.

I am now taking Augmentin XR 1000-62.5, 2 pills, 2x daily to fight off the remaining infection. Although my body feels better ( I don't feel as ill as I did before) and although my fevers are slightly down (still getting them daily but not as severe), the infection itself feels like it is starting to get worse again. A previously untreated, unaffected tooth - it's between the 2 teeth that were removed - has started throbbing, and in addition to that I can feel the hot infected feeling spreading into my parotid gland (ear area) on that side once again, and into my sinus cavity under my eye on that side. After the 2 teeth were removed, these areas were feeling better, but not so much anymore.

I previously took Clindamycin which worked great for a few months, but then stopped working. However, that was before the 2 teeth were pulled. I'm wondering if maybe I should try it again in conjunction with the Augmentin, since it may now have a better chance of working since the 2 teeth were pulled and the bone cleaned out.

My oral surgeon would like to try me on clindamycin again, but my infectious disease doctor says the Augmentin should be fighting all of the bacteria. But it doesn't feel like it is at all, the infection has been getting worse for the past 3 or 4 days. But I do know that my body is feeling better, so I know the Augmentin is fighting something - I just don't think it's fighting everything.

I do not have any other underlying illness. I've been tested for everything from HIV to all the inflammatory diseases and don't have anything else than this infection going on.

Levaquin 750 paired with Flagyl 500 (3x daily) seemed to be working but I had a very bad reaction to the Levaquin and had to be taken off it.

I am so desperate to get better, please if anyone can offer any suggestions I'd be so grateful.

p.s. I apologize if there's an edit feature I don't know about ... but I also just wanted to add that the oral surgeon did say that at least 2 of the bacteria were resistant to clindamycin ... so it would have to be a combo of that and something else if we were going to try it again. In fact, I think all the bacteria listed may usually be resistant to clindamycin (but I don't know this for sure) but all I know is that in the beginning of this infection (actually about 3 months into it) the clindamycin seemed to really be kicking butt. Then like I said it stopped working, but it was after 2 months on it and with the teeth still in there. Thanks.

if you do'nt have any medical condition compromising your immune system, your presentation is extremely rare. As long as the source of dental infection is identified and eliminated, administration of antibiotics  rarely  exceeds  5 days. If I were your treating dentist, I would look for other potential source of infection. In the mean time, if augmentin and clindamycin are not effective, I would try  erythromycin family drug, such as  azithromycin or clarithromycin , paired with metronidazole(flagyl). If itis possible, antibiotic sensitivity test can be done in the lab to determine which antibiotic is most effective for the cultured bacteria. Hope this helps.
