Possible Life or Death situation.Helpful advice needed A.S.A.P.

Hello,

This will be the first time that I've posted anything on this scary situation that I am now facing regarding a severe dental infection and the risky treatment that I must endure to get rid of it...

I've put off a tooth extraction that was needed way back in the late 80's because of a very bad reaction to a skin test involving Lidocaine and Mepricaine both WITHOUT Ephinepherine( I'm not sure of the spelling?)
In the skin test I was given small doses of the local anaesthetics mentioned above and halfway through the test my heart started to have P.A.C.S.so they stopped with the Lido caine and continued with the other one until a full dose was injected under the skin of the inside of my forearm.
After the test I went home and everything seemed well except the next day while taking a shower,BAM!They hit with a vengeance.P.A.C.S every minute of every hour, one after another one like you would not believe...This lasted for an entire month and I have NEVER used any anaesthetics ever since...I have never had any dental work since then either and I have 4 broken teeth in dire need of extraction and don't know what to do..Last month I had a bad infection in one of the teeth that bordered on Blood poisoning which went into my tonsils giving me a cyst in one of them along with a swollen face and other problems.I spent almost the entire month in bed..I starting taking Cleocin and now I'm doing better,I'm still on it and trying to figure out how to get this bad tooth extacted without dying in the dentist chair...I need to find a heart safe local anaesthetic right away!

I would reccomend you get a medical alert bracelt for your allergy to Lidocaine as this is sometimes used in emergency situations to treat cardiac arrest.

Hi,

I ran out of space above..I'm now 47 years old and at the time of the skin test I was 31,I had stopped taking Inderal which is a Beta Blocker 2 years earlier.I believe the Inderal helped to cause this reaction because I used to be able to handle local dental anaesthetics without a problem prior to the Inderal.I have had problems with high blood pressure in the past and a history of heart arrhythmias P.A.C.S....ETC.I still get them daily at about 10 or so a day.I need to find a safe local anaesthetic or an alternative..Also a way to cleanse my system of the drug after surgery so that it won't get into my system and cause problems with my heart. And I'll also need to know what to do if I go ahead and survive the surgery and get another bad reaction. My life may very well depend on the answer you give me so please help I'm desperate. Thanks so much..

I think you should consult an oral surgeon. There are ways to treat your sensitivity to local anesthetics.Good luck!
