Possible tooth infection, lower left side of mouth, 5 years after root canal.

The first time I went to the dentist about my current problem was in June, but the dentist I went to told me that the problem was my wisdom tooth pushing on my other tooth, and prescribed amoxicillin, and ibuprofen 600mg. The unpleasant sensation subsided, and subsequently I had my wisdom tooth removed, and was again prescribed amoxicillin. In September the same symptoms started again, and another dentist said it was the tooth that I had root canal in 5 years ago had an infection and gave me penicillin, advising to perform the operation again. The pain subsided, but I did not follow the course of antibiotics properly. Three weeks later I went back to Bulgaria and saw two different dentists who both told me the route canal was perfect, and nothing else is visible on the X ray. I had my top wisdom tooth removed, but that was not the cause of the sensation. I recently went to a different dentist, and she too could not find anything, and gave me (metrazanol?), and the pain subsided but has recently begun again. I have also been to see doctors and an ear specialist. A doctor recently prescribed me a course of doxycycline to see if that has any effect. I am really worried about antibiotic resistance, but the area affected is definitely responsive to antibiotic treatment. The symptoms are an unpleasant sensation in the lower left area of my mouth where I have had root canal. Slight facial swelling and pain in my ear, particularly if pressed behind. The unpleasant sensation is hard to describe, but it definitely is not a sharp pain, but more of a light throbbing, dull sensation. Furthermore, sometimes when it is particularly bad, my ear feels as if it is wet inside, but is not.

sounds like an infection, probably from the root canaled tooth.  Having it re-treated would be a good idea.  so many anti-biotics is a problem as you could build up a resistance to them and they may not work effectively.  I would go to an endodontist (they specialize in root canals) to have them take a look and re-treat.

Thank you for the quick reply. No, I have not seen an endodontist, I do not know what one is. What are possible cause of the problem based on pure conjecture? Is taking the different types of antibiotics a problem?

I can not possibly diagnosis your problem without seeing you, but I do not like the fact that you are taking so many antibiotics and such. Has anyone looked into the possibilty of a TMJ problem.Have you seen an endodontist?
