Post apicoetomy

2 weeks ago I had a bridge recemented with two new pins put in as well.  A day later I was in severe pain and diagnosed with an infection and had a apiocoetomy.  For the past couple of days, the area worked on feels very sensitive - not so much to hot or cold but to touch and the surrounding area is being affected as well.  Mind you, the pain is NOT as intense as prior to the apiocoetomy but it is STILL there.  I am wondering, does it have anything to do with the new pin?  It is only happening on one side (actually the same side operated on).  At this point, I am scared to go back to the dentist since this is the SECOND time (only on different sides) that an apiocoetomy had to be done for the same reason.

Any idea what this pain can be coming from?  I KNOW I need to go back to my regular dentist but I'd just like some opinions first on what it might or might NOT be.  Thanks in advance.

It could be just normal post op discomfort. When you say pins I am assuming that you mean posts.Over the years I have become more conservative in referring patients for apicos. I am more inclined to have the root canals retreated.I do not like the percentage of success on apicos especially on posterior teeth.I would also be concerned how well the bridge is fitting if the bridge existed before the post where placed I would be concerned about the accuracy of the fit.
