Problem after crown procedure

by larandsandy, Nov 21, 2006 12:00AM
Hi, I am in need of a root canal and am very nervous about it because of a past reaction after having a crown installed.  A couple of days following the crown procedure, I was awakened by a very severe case of vertigo.  A few days after that, I became very weak and faint.  I have had mild vertigo previously, from ear problems, but never like this.  It lasted a full month and it is something I do not want to go through again.  I am worried that this is from the novacaine because I have never had this happen before.  This was the first time I had a procedure requiring novacaine from this dentist.  Do you think that I am sensitive to something in his novacaine?  And what is someone to do in this case?  Also, I haven't had another vertigo case like this since (11/05).  What do you suggest?  I do have many allergies:  acetaminophen, thimeresol, penicillin, sulfa.  Thanks for your input.

I have had no experience with any patients I have treated having vertigo related to any local anesthetic.I would suggest you see your MD and have this checked out.
