Puss from root canal/crown

by zednanref, Nov 03, 2009 11:17PM
In 2006 I had a root canal & crown done on last molar & then 9 monts later woke up swollen & puss came out of gum.  The dentist xrayed & said everything looked good & it happened because the tooth sat to high & I gring my teeth & the pressure brused the bone & caused infection.  Now again last week the same thing except now I also have a white bumpy looking thing on the opening of throat on the same side as the molar.  I'm sure that's from the infection. I'm now taking 250mg amoxicillin 3 times a day & I put 1 tetracycalin in my water pik.

Will this continue? I have 2 other root canals & never had this problem. It now also seems to move side to side easy could that be from puss pockets?

I know I'll have to see a dentist but I would like to be a little educated before I go in, and I dont want to go ack to this person.

For now do I need to be more concerned with the infection spreading?

I think there is and has been a problem from the root canal and crown.  I don't feel your dentist is being honest, seek a second opinion and go from there.  Did he grind down that tooth, because if it's sitting "high" then you will always have problems as it interferes with your bite also and this may well be the reason you're having problems.  I don't think this dentist is competent.  Take care.....

you need to see a better dentist, ask around about who is great restoritive dentist. You obviously have a bad absess (abscess) and need to be on a strong antibiotic such as augmentin. If your bite is off it can cause severe pain, and it inflames the membrane of the tooth. you need to be checked out!!
