Question Concening Cleaning and Flossing

Question Concening Cleaning and Flossing

About two weeks ago I was flossing my teeth. I apparently was "sawing" more than flossing and it seemed as if I cut my gum. The pain began to shoot up and down my bottow right gum/jaw line. I went to the dentist they x-rayed and found nothing abnormal going on. The did a teeth cleaning and now my gums and teeth are hurting in the same area. My question is, would a gum injury be that drastic in pain and would teeth cleaning make teeth painful afterwards. It was my first cleaning in 15 years approximately.

It would surprise me that after 15 years without a professional cleaning that your gums were not inflamed and that some post op discomfort would be normal. Continue the flossing in the correct manner and rinse with warm salt water as much as you can and more importantly don't wait another 15 years before you visit the dentist.
