Red Hard Palate with Petachiae

Delivered son in June of 2005, did not go to dentist the entire time I was preg. Finally went to dentist in Nov of 2005. Found out I had gingivitis and some redness on my hard palate. Dentist told me that some underlying medical condition had to be going on. Went to medical doctor had blood work done, blood work came back fine just a little anemic. Was given vitamins for two months. Red spots never went away on hard palate. The spot actually resembles a mouth burn. Well it is June 2006 and the red spots are still there with petachiae and know the outer part of my gums (gingivae) are red. My mouth does not hurt, it just feels raw where the redness is, some metallic taste, I get geographic tongue easily now. Are there any suggestions as to what this is?

The redness of the gums sounds like gingivitis or periodontitis, the geographic tongue is just that, and the petechiae of the palate is probably just a variation of normal for you (given that your blood tests were fine) You should consult an oral surgeon to be sure, but it does not sound too serious. Also, you should try to address the gums/gingiva.

I burned my hard palate when I drank hot coffee. Now, there's a sore on it that won't go away. It hurts whenever food touches it. It's been over a week and isn't going away. Can anyone help on how to treat it?
