Red spot on right side of the tounge with white coating

For a while now I have been getting these red spots on the side of my tounge. Its always just one or two spots on the right side. They are kind of tender when i touch them with my teeth. They come and go. It's very irritable. I don't know how to get rid of it. I went to the doctor and she said it was nothing. But im pretty sure it is. Im going for another doctor visit on the 20th. Hopefully a better experieced doc. Can you please tell me what u think this might be.? I need some answers. Thank you!

Sounds like a traumatic ulcer.  Any history of trauma to the area such as biting on it?  Perhaps you have a slightly chipped tooth which is sharp and is rubbing agains the tongue and causing an ulcer?
