Replacing front old crowns with new ones

I have had 4 front upper dental crowns in for over 30 years. They never came off once, very strong. My dentist wants to put in 4 new crowns for cosmetic reasons because the ones i have start to be getting grey at the gumline. My problem is I am so afraid to remove those crowns, which have been there for so long and get new ones that might come off once in a while because of the root that might get damage during the transition or for whatever other reason.  I would like your advice on this. Thank you.
