Last year, tooth #19 was diagnosed w/resorption. I underwent crown lengthening at periodontist, root canal at endodontist and got a crown from dentist. Now a "fistula" has formed at the gum line and they tell me x-rays show the tooth is still infected and may have to be extracted. Any other options available? Did someone screw up the first time? Could earlier detection have prevented this re-occurrance? Thank you.

It is difficult to diagnose that problem this way, but from my experience and what you have told me , it seems the prognosis for the long haul is not very good. You know that I can not comment on the initial diagnosis because I never saw the tooth.
