Root Canal Pain or Sinus Pain

Root Canal Pain or Sinus Pain

I had a root canal done in August 2005.  I still experience pain in and around the tooth.  Sometimes just a dull pain and sometimes worse. The pain goes up into the right side of my face around my nose and eye.  Sometimes it seems worse when the barometer is changing such as prior to rain. I mentioned this to the dentist who did the root canal, not my regular dentist as he doesn't do root canals, but I have also mentioned it to him as well.  They tell me that there is no sinus cavity in that area.  So what is causing this pain?  Usually an OTC sinus/allergy pill helps. I am wondering if it would have been better to have the tooth pulled, but it is located where it would be visible when I smile or talk.  What is causing this chronic pain?

If the medication that you are taking does help it does not sound like the problem is coming from the root canal tooth. The type of medication you take would have no effect on a tooth that had the root canal therapy.
