Root Canal Pain

I have a fear of the dentist.  I went to a dentist to have a crown put on my front tooth.  She told me that I need to have a root canal first.  She started the process and had to stop, because of my fear, I could not allow her to go on.  She told me she had cleaned of the infection and that I needed to be put to sleep for lack of a better term.  After I got home that same day my tooth came alive and now I am experincing sharp pain everytime I bite down of something.  I did not have that pain before I went to the dentist what happen and what can I do about it?

there are dentists who do sedation dentistry. If you cannot make it through a dental procedure I would recommend you try this.
