SEVERE tooth pain afta molar extraction

I had my 3rd molar on my bottom left side removed 3 days ago in preparation for routine orthodontics. Iv had 3 teeth removed for the same reasons before and have never had pain as bad as this. I have very sharp, throbbing pain all along my jaw line on my left side going upto my ear, and mild swelling. This pain only started yesterday but hasn't stopped and i cant open my jaw wide enough to eat. The other thing is that the day after i had the tooth removed, i havn't stopped being sick whenever i drink or eat. Ive got extremely bad breath at the moment dispite brushing every hour to get rid of the pus-like taste in my mouth, its foul. My problem is i rang the doctor about the pain and sickness and he said i need to deal with my dentist, but my dentist told me on the phone that it takes 10days to develop an infection so it cant be that. no-one can help me... WHATS WRONG??

you may have a dry socket or an infected socket-- not uncommon w 3rd molars---- I'd see the dentist who extracted it asap, or see an oral surgeon.
