I had a cerec crown placed on an upper back molar 8 days ago. Some old fillings were removed from the tooth and some deep drilling was done to prep the tooth. I needed an additional shot in the midst of the drilling because it was too uncomfortable.
So there was no temporary crown--just everything done in one visit. I'm still having aches and sensitivities in the area of the crown, extending along the gum line toward the front of my teeth. I can't chew on that side of my mouth--any pressure creates an uncomfortable sensation that I would want to avoid. I have taken Advil and that seems to eliminate the aches and any mild throbbing post-chewing (if done accidentally). I hope that this will go away with time.
I am wondering how long should this take to subside? When should I be concerned or consult the dentist again? If for some reason there was something wrong with the tooth itself and they needed to remove the crown--can it be placed again? Or would I need a new crown? It is way too expensive! Thanks.
