Sever Pain and swelling.

My mother-in-law had a tooth and abscess removed yesterday. Now she is having sever pain and swelling. She is unable to lye down to sleep due to the pain. She has tried cold packs, hot packs and pain medications. We have tried to contact her densest many times and she doesn't answer. What should we do? Do we take her to the ER for medication?
