Severe Overbite Options

What are my options to correct a very severe overbite?  Just measured with a tape measure (lol), and from my bottom-front teeth, to my upper-front teeth, it's approximately 7/16 in. (1.11125 cm or 11.1125 mm).

Also, I don't know the technical term, but when I close my mouth, only my four rear teeth touch, then there is a increasingly larger gap between my upper and lower teeth as you move to the front of my mouth.

Oh, also, my upper-front teeth are slanted outwards, while my bottom-front teeth are slanted inwards, and my bottom-front teeth are very misaligned, close-together, and overlap each other a little bit.

AND..  I can't say my teeth are in the greatest condition.  My dentist said I have soft enamel, and I've had about 8 fillings (though i quit drinking acidic drinks and started using fluoride mouthwash, and don't have anymore major cavities).

When I first saw my dentist at age 22 (I came from a poor family), he suggested that I get dentures.  Well, I told him I'd rather not because I'm not married and I'd have a hard time explaining that to dates at such a young age (plus the upkeep, and bone deterioration, and all that...).

So now, I'm 25, and still really don't want dentures (maybe if I was 50), but I can tell that my severe overbite really ruins things for the few dates I'm actually able to get :)

What are my options, and what are the costs?

I'm thinking a little in the long-term here, because I'm still in college, but graduate soon, and should be able to get a "ok" paying job within the next year or so.

Oh, crap.  Let correct this.  I meant "overjet," not "overbite."

as far as i know, an overbite cant be fixed. I think it may be fixed with surgery, i think they can set your jaw in a different position.
