The shockAcute respiratory distress syndrome Cardiogenic shock Electroconvulsive therapy Hepatic ischemia Hypoglycemia Hypovolemic shock Lithotripsy Shock Toxic shock syndrome sensation can indeed happen from the anesthetic.I would surmise it is a lower molar, correctCorrect (new formula)? With a mandibular block injection it can happen. In mouth It lessens typically when the doctor backs off or redirects the site.Afterwards you may have "some " short term soreness. We are really talking about two seperate things most likely.
Now onto your qustion about the crack. When a crack is present it runs typically across the floor of the tooth. When you place a crown on it, it displaces the forces away from that crack. An onlay means it is not a full crown. It may cover a cusp, with the area next to the cheek(buccalBuccal smear still enamel)It is less invasive than a full crown.Meaning we cut down less tooth structure. An inlay would mean just the center of a tooth.Any cutting into a tooth can cause additionally senstivity. Our hope is to help with that. Are you taking advil to lessen some of the inflamation (inflammation)? Also keep in mind a temporay is not as strong as natural tooth enamel. So do favor it and chew on the other side.Do call the office let them know what is going on.Ask if perhaps they can check the occlusal surface (bite). They can take some of the bite off it with just a quick adjustment. This will help to not keep the tooth stirred up.Imagine if you had a sore toe.It would only take a light touch to make it hurt more.Same is true of a tooth,if the bite is a bit high it will stay sore.It typically does not settle in.If you have pain that wakes you up in the night,a pimple in the gum next to tooth,or if your temporary comes off (aaaggghhh naked tooth) call you Dr right away.
If the permanent has been placed, ask Dr. to check you bite, and adjust if necessary. This should be of no cost to you.Another consideration is ometimes teeth can take a bit to settle down.Your Dr. at the very least should monitor it.
Thank you! Excellent advice. This sounds like what I have been doing and the pain comes & goes but is not getting worse. There is nothing temporary, just an onlay and my dentist did show me the crack which was no longer visible after he did his work. The pain is not sharp, but dull and nagging but goes away when I avoid it. Advil does help.
I'm relieved to know the shock sensation is not due to anything worse but I'll keep in touch with my dr's office.
