Should I accept this dentistry?

I'm 30 years old. I have #7 missing and ##9 and 10 had large fillings. After consulting three dentists in my area I've decided to replace a lost tooth with a fixed three-unit bridge (on 6, 7, and 8) and put crowns on 9 and 10. When I arrived at my dentist for the permanent bridge and crowns to be put on, the dentist placed the five-unit fixed bridge. The bridge had metal framework that extends uninterrupted from end to end and was covered on the visible surfaces by porcelain. I noticed that this is not what we had planned. The dentist called the lab; they came and got the bridge. In about 45 minutes they had my bridge cut in 3 pieces: three-unit bridge and two crowns. The dentist was ready to fit that permanently just as everything was going the way it supposed to. It was very disturbing to observe what was happening and I asked to have it put on temporary cement for now. Should I accept this dentistry? I do not like the fact that I have exposed metal between my teeth. Are individual crowns and crowns that are part of a bridge made the same? What about the fact that this dentistry was worked on (significantly) after it was finished. How do I know if the dentistry I've got would look as good as individual crowns I've asked for? My dentist didn't bother to discuss any of these things with me. One more thing, I

You have very legitimate concerns. You are paying for this and you should make sure you are comfortable with what you are getting. My friend was getting a night guard made and the guard didn't fit well. Rather than have it remade the dentist tried to work on it and push it on. Her tooth got chipped in the process. The dentist claimed it was already chipped but she found the small broken piece!! Some dentist don't have the patience to redo work and that is their problem and shouldn't become yours. Speak to another dentist first and then voice our concerns.
Hope it works out.

ok so did you go with the bridge out of cost vs implant cost? if number 6 was a virgin tooth i wouldnt touch it, too late now. sounds like the lab messed up and made the whole thing a bridge, then dr had them seperate them and wanted to seat them anyway. did you discuss using all porceline vs metal on the single crowns? even bridges can be made all porceline. it can depend on other factors so you need to bring this up to your dds. you know untill its seated you can change your mind as far as what kind of material you use, they just may make you pay the lab fees, unless the dr never suggested this. (id think between 3 dds's you had quite a range of options layed out for you). once you accept and allow them to seat them, your stuck. sure things can be changed, but for fees again. what were all the options layed out for you? if it were me, i wouldnt allow any metal to show. i worked as an asst until recently and i just cant imagine that much anterior work being done with all that metal showing.

dont accept this tell them to go to hell and go to another dentist without paying them a dime. Otherwise you will be stuck with this bridge and this terrible dentist for five long years. Insurance companies will not pay for a new bridge unless its been in your mouth for five years or longer
