Smoking while already having dry socket

Smoking while already having dry socket

I had 1 lower wisdom tooth pulled 7 days ago.  I developed a dry socket.  I did not smoke and did everything I was supposed to.  Just unlucky I guess.  I went and got treated for the dry socket with the medicated pad, pain is gone, feels pretty good.

My question is that now the clot is gone anyway and its being treated as dry socket is it safe to smoke if I wanted to? If no, or if I shouldn't I'll just keep waiting, just wanted to know if I could have one if I chose to. ( I know, I know quit smoking etc....I'm not a heavy smoker, 1 or 2 most days, sometimes I'll have 3 to 5 a day.  These last 7 days were easy, I guess I'm a freak, its easy for me to quit if I put my mind to it. )

I would suggest not to since the toxins from smoking and the act of smoking can irritate the socket.  Keep the socket packed if theres pain.
