I had a root canal and post and crown done a few weeks ago and the tooth is still sore. It does not hurt as bad as it did before the root canal but the fact that it still hurts a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys if I apply pressurePressure ulcer to the tooth concerns me. I told my dentist but he just said "oh really?" When I asked him if I needed antibiotics he said there was no need for that. should I have been given antibiotics and is this soreness normalNormal saline flush? Will the pain go away?
I have the same problem with my tooth with root canal and crown done about almost 2 weeks ago. I was told that a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummyspressurePressure ulcer pain is normalNormal saline flush for a while. So I am waiting for a month or so and call my dentist again. I feel a little sensation just by touching it with my tounge. I was told tooth with root canal don't have sensation since the roots are dead. Its not as painfull before, but still a mild pain if I chew hard food. I hope someone will response soon. Good luck.
Ahhhhhh yes the old root canal that still causes some sort of problem. I'm in the process of having a bottom molar retreated by an endodontist. It is only going to take him 2 visits to complete the job. This is a tooth that I had just had root canal treatment completed on by my regular dentist back in March this year. I had the first appointment with my endodontist 8 weeks ago and the tooth has VERY slowly settled down after all this time. Yes you read correctly........8 weeks. And the endo won't touch it again for the last round of treatment until another month has passed. Some teeth take that long to settle, especially if it's a molar you're talking about. For some reason, molars really HATE root canals!
I know what you mean about a sensation when the tooth is touched even though there's no nerve in it. After my first visit I had a really strong sensation even if I touched it lightly with my finger, but after 8 weeks it's almost disappeared completely. Even though the tooth itself has no nerve in it anymore, the periodontal ligament which holds the tooth in your gum has a heap of nerve fiber still running through it. If I was you I'd allow up to 3 months for everything to settle completely. I know it's a bummer, but like my endo keeps telling me, the tooth has got to be allowed to settle after it's been interfered with, especially if the periodontal ligament has been bruised or "upset".
Good luck people.......I'm sure you'll feel it getting a little bit better week by week by week. Sometimes patience and time is the only thing it needs. All the best.
