Stability of harvested bone

I had a root canal #19, 22 years ago, the jaw below that area has been deteriorating noticeably over the last 5 years.  I had the tooth removed yesterday, and used bone from a cadaver added to keep the gum from collapsing, which I am calling a graft below (sorry if the terminology is incorrect)

The jaw xray under 19 appeared very open it appeared to be an oblong shape (gray not speckled) the  lack of bone density 1.75" to approximately .75"  the ends tapered so the extreme depth are was about .75" -the rest of my jaw is very white, I'm 38.  So I didn't feel an implant is a good idea for me until I know the jaw bone strengthens.  My surgeon reported that the graft will strengthen if it is anchored by a implant in 2-6 months.  My thoughts were the graft would be a benefit to me regardless of whether I get an implant.


Will the graft strengthen over a year and does an implant need to anchor it?

Am I a good candidate for an implant/ I'd like to keep my teeth and the thought of a bridge is unappealing?

If I don't replace 19   where the tooth above it (14?) be negatively impacted, I plan on getting a mouthpiece for grinding during sleeping.

      It appears that you have a Decacified Freezed Dried Bone Allograft(DFDBA) implanted to your mandible. The strength of jaw bone is generally not affected by graft material. However, the graft material tends to preserve the alveolar bone during healing process. DFDBA will be resorbed and replaced by natural bone.After completion of wound healing, it would be a good idea to replce the missing tooth with implant if conditions allowed.
