Strange feeling associated with permanent crown

Strange feeling associated with permanent crown

Hi,

I had four Empress porcelain crowns bonded on July 3rd.  When I had the temporarys on, they felt fine and I felt like myself.  After I had these put on (they look great), I felt immediately nauseated.  I think it is the bonding material that doesn't agree with my system.  I've had intense pain for the past 2.5 weeks.  The pain comes and goes.  For the most part, today, it is gone.  My question is is that I feel weird.  I don't feel like myself - normally perky and happy.  I feel a general sense of malaise.  My jaw and face sometimes spasm.  My appetite is not normal and certain foods cause me to feel ill whereas they didn't before.

I'm beginning to think that I'm allergic to something in the bonding material.  And I'm thinking about having the crowns taken off and put on with the porcelain fused to metal.  I had one other crown done that way and I've felt fine.  Has anyone ever had this experience?  Even though I'm not in pain right now (thank God), I can't imagine not feeling like myself for the rest of my life.

Please help!  Thanks so much.

This is new to me. I have never had a patient that showed these symptoms. It is always possible that you are allergic to the cement but as I stated before I have not had the experience with what you are going through. I wish I could give you advice. If you are in no discomfort I think I would wait a little while before you have these crowns removed. You can always remove them.

I had several crowns fitted just a week ago. Like you I felt and looked fine at first. Since then, my teeth have been incredibly sensitive and I have felt nauseous. Nothing tastes or smells the same any more. My mouth constantly fills with saliva. I feel tired and lethargic. I was in excellent health before I had the treatment. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm allergic to any of the materials used. I cannot offer any advice but I certainly know what you are going through. It's not a case of "mind over matter" as has been suggested to me. I'm hoping all this is temporary. Do keep us informed of your progress.

Like you, I had 6 of my top front teeth crowned.  I did it about 10 days ago and have been miserable ever since.  My temporaries felt great and actually the old crowns I had felt great too.  I decided to have them replaced with newer whiter crowns.  What a mistake.  Now I can't eat solid food or drink anything that's not room temperature. It even hurts to bite down or have air brush against my teeth.  I am also now getting sick to my stomach.  I have been cancelling all of my appointments because I'm so sick and miserable.
Have either of you found a solution to your problem?  I can't live like this much longer.  I also read about the spasms you were having and have them also.
